Yes. The Orus Duplex runs entirely on mains water pressure. No electrical connection is needed, which greatly simplifies installation and eliminates energy consumption. You can install it in a utility room, laundry room, garage, or under a sink with no need for a nearby power outlet.
A single-column softener stops delivering softened water during regeneration, which can last 30 minutes to 2 hours. The Orus duplex system uses two 4.6-litre resin columns working alternately: when one regenerates, the other keeps treating water. Result: softened water available 24/7 without interruption, even during peak hours.
Consumption depends on your water hardness and usage volume. On average, a household of 4 with water at 35°f uses approximately 2 to 3 blocks of 4 kg per month, or 0.40 kg of salt per regeneration cycle. The Orus counter-current (Up Flow) regeneration reduces salt consumption by up to 40% compared to conventional softeners.
Ion-exchange softened water replaces calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions. It remains safe to drink but contains slightly more sodium. For daily drinking, keeping one unsoftened tap (cold kitchen tap) is recommended. The Orus includes an integrated bypass with clearly marked SERVICE and BYPASS positions for easy setup.
